  1. AAAREAD.ME -- Brief Guide to Kermit Files, July 1988

  3. File names all start with letters and are of the form NAME.TYPE, and will
  4. normally appear in alphabetical order in a directory listing or on a tape.
  5.  
  6. Files whose names start with AA (like this one) -- normally appearing at
  7. the top of a directory listing -- give general information about Kermit.
  8.  
  9. Kermit programs are stored in the Kermit distribution areas with related
  10. files grouped together using filename prefixes; the names of all the files
  11. for a certain implementation all start with the same 2- or 3-character
  12. prefix, for instance all the files for MS-DOS Kermit have names starting
  13. with MS, the files names for VAX/VMS Kermit all start with VMS.

  15. The following files describe what's available in the Kermit distribution:

  17. AAFILES.HLP - Explanation of what files are availabe and how they are named.
  18. AANETW.HLP -- Information about network access to Kermit files.
  19. AANOKS.HLP -- Information about the Oklahoma State U Kermit archive.
  20. AATAPE.HLP -- Information about Kermit distribution tape formats.

  22. Files whose names start with AAV are brief, complete lists of existing,
  23. available Kermit versions, sorted in various ways:

  25. AAVERS.HLP -- Master list, in no particular order
  26. AAVNEW.HLP -- Listed in reverse chronological order of release date
  27. AAVOPS.HLP -- Listed alphabetically by operating system only
  28. AAVPFX.HLP -- Listed alphabetically by prefix, regardless of tape
  29. AAVSYS.HLP -- Listed alphabetically by machine and operating system
  30. AAVTAP.HLP -- Listed by tape (A,B,C,D,E), then alphabetically by file prefix

  32. The next file lists the Kermit programs we are still waiting for:
